Our trip to San Diego June 16-21

We left for San Diego on Wednesday June 16 and drove all the way to St. George. We stayed at Grandma and Grandpa Bartschi's winter home. Then we got up early the next morning and drove the rest of the way to San Diego. That night Dalen and I along with my sister Natalie and my brother Jack visited the Mormon Batallion in Old Town. They have recently remodeled it, so it was a new adventure for all of us.

We were able to pan for gold. They actually had "fools" gold mixed in with sand and taught us how they used to pan for gold. It was kind of fun. We got to keep the gold nuggets we found.

Dalen has never been to the World Famous San Diego Zoo and it's been many years since I have been there, so my mom and Aunt Reyna who has season passes took us Friday morning. We were able to go on a bus tour of the park and see some neat animals.

I never knew that polar bears ate carrots.

My mom and sister's threw me a baby shower while I was there at Margo Sensenbaugh's home. It was fun to get together with family and friends and see all the cute little baby girl clothes. Thank you everyone who helped organize and plan and to everyone who was able to come and help celebrate with me. And especially thank you for the cute baby gifts!

Shellie's brother Anthony graduated from Mira Mesa High School. The school just re-turfed their football field so instead of letting the parents come onto the field and taking pictures with their graduates after the graduation was over they marched them back up above the stadium to take pictres. For some reason they called the students with the last name starting with V-Z in the middle of the group, so with Anthony's permission, we stayed till his name was called and then left. We were able to beat the crowd and start setting up for his party.

That Sunday Andy and Mary blessed their baby, Ethan Bryce Wininger. We were grateful we were able to witness and participate in that special event.

We left that Sunday afternoon to start our journey back to Sugar City. We made pretty good time. We stayed in St. George again. The following morning we woke up early to complete our journey. It was my birthday and my day started out with a really bad stomach ache. We had to pull over at a gas station. After our little break, I felt better but was so glad when we finally made it home. It was good to visit my family, but it was also really good to be home and sleep in my bed again.

  1. Sounds like you had a fun trip! And that last picture of you with the baby is so cute. You'll be taking LOTS more pictures like that when you have your baby girl! So fun.
